St. Croix River Clean-up

The Friends' St. Croix River Clean-up event is held on the second Saturday in July. Friends members and their families, plus other volunteers, bring their canoes/kayaks or use one of the eight that are provided by the park. We paddle down the St. Croix River between the Sunrise River Landing and the main boat landing within the park, picking up trash in the river and on its banks. We need help from many volunteers to do a good job!

The clean-up event starts at 9am at the Wild River State Park Landing. Regardless of whether you have your own canoe or will use one from the park, the entire group meets at Wild River Landing to shuttle everyone up to the Sunrise River Landing.

This is an all-day event; we typically finish at about 4 p.m. at the Wild River Landing. We will stop about halfway through to have lunch.

Because we are on the river all day, make sure to bring lots of water (2 liters recommended), a lunch, sunscreen, bug repellant, a hat, toilet paper, work gloves, and anything else to keep you comfortable. Dress for the weather; we go out rain or shine (but will cancel for lightning).

Volunteers must wear a PFD/life jacket for the entire event. If you don't have your own, the park will provide you with one.
